Checking it worked
Part of the SourceSecure IT deployment pack.
On one computer
- Open
chrome://policy(Edge:edge://policy). ExtensionInstallForcelist listsbicelplgpeknobhaandbndecidlmeook;...with status OK. If it is missing, click Reload policies; if it is still missing, the policy did not reach this computer. - Open
chrome://extensions. SourceSecure is there, marked as installed by your administrator, with no Remove button and its switch locked on. - The SourceSecure icon is pinned to the toolbar. Click it: it asks the person to sign in.
- After signing in, open chatgpt.com, type a made-up card number such as
4111 1111 1111 1111into the message box, and press Enter. SourceSecure holds the message and offers to send it redacted. Do not send it.
Across the firm
Your SourceSecure admin's team page (sourcesecure.ca, Team) lists each person and when each of their browsers last checked in. Somebody missing has not signed in yet, or their computer has not received the policy.
If something is wrong
| What you see | Why, and what to do |
|---|---|
| Policy present, extension missing | The computer cannot reach clients2.google.com; allow it (see the network allowlist in README.md) |
| "Sign in to turn on" on every AI site | Nobody has signed in on this browser yet, or their address is not on the team page |
| Signed in, but nothing is caught on an AI site | Reload the tab once after the install, and check the site is in the list in README.md |
| "This browser is connected to a different account" | The browser was set up for somebody else: sign out from the icon and sign in again |
